In the eighteenth century, tea houses served as vibrant hubs for intellectual exchange—spaces where people gathered over tea to read books, share magazines, and debate new ideas, discoveries, and science.
Building on this legacy, our online magazine provides a space for Rwandan artists and writers, as well as international residents of Rwanda, to gather and archive our Blackness, folklore, comedy, chaos, prayers, and sensibilities through language and images.
While the platform currently functions as an archival space, we aim to expand into a dedicated research studio in the near future.
Founded in 2020 by Alain Jules Hirwa, the magazine went on hiatus in 2021 before being officially revived in 2026.
